Ellie Jane Goulding was born in Hereford England on December 30 1986. Tracey Goulding Summers is her mother. Her father Arthur Goulding comes from a funeral family that is a home. Goulding has three siblings: a sister Isabel who is older an older brother Alex and a second sister Jordan. Alex, Goulding's brother, is a bass player. Goulding is also an Hereford musician. Alex was encouraged by her mother to study music as a young girl. When she was nine years old, she began to learn the clarinet. In her teens, she began writing her first song however she didn't start seriously writing songs until the time she was in college. Goulding was intrigued by electronic dance and electronic music while she was studying. With the help of MySpace She was able to contact Frankmusik who assisted her in creating her folktronica. Jamie Lillywhite, a scout at the time who was also her manager for a time before taking on the A.&R role in universitiy talent competitions, stumbled upon her. Lillywhite subsequently connected her to the music producer Starsmith who helped with the November 15 2009 publication of her first single, Under the Sheets. He then worked on Lights. She was signed to Polydor Records even though Under the Sheets was released by an independent label Neon Gold Records. Brightest Blue was her fourth release due for release on July 17 2020. It debuted on the U.K. It topped the album chart.
